Kimberley Wildlife
The most famous and feared native animal of the Kimberley is the saltwater crocodile (and it is also the world’s largest reptile). These huge, prehistoric creatures are a good reason you need our experienced crew to guide you! Other common reptiles include goannas (also known as monitor lizards), the Mitchell’s Water Monitor, frilled lizards, blue-tongue lizards, geckos and green tree frogs. Snakes are also abundant, with species including poisonous King Brown / Mulga snakes, olive pythons, black-headed rock pythons and common tree snakes.
Kimberley Bird Watching
Thanks to the wide range of habitats found in the region, Kimberley bird watching is renowned for being challenging and extremely rewarding with over 300 bird species to spy on. A few of the species you can hope to catch a glimpse of include Red Goshawk, Gouldian Finch, Black Grasswren and Purple-Crowned Fairy-Wren. Photography enthusiasts love the opportunity to be on board the Kimberley Pearl, as they are able to challenge their photography skills, whilst viewing birds they would otherwise never have the privilege of getting close to.
Kimberley Coast Marine Life
Kimberley Coast marine life is nothing short of spectacular, with attractions such as Camden Sound Marine Park bound to be on the bucket list. You can find some of the best wildlife in Australia here, including dolphins, sea turtles and dugongs. This is a popular spot for whale watching as well, and is frequented by pilot whales, pygmy killer whales and blue whales. It is also a birthing / calving site for the world’s biggest concentration of over 22,000 humpback whales. Cruise guests rave about how life changing this experience is for them.
